False Alarm

Welp, I guess I just ate too much Raclette that night because so far as I've heard, nothing weird or really bad happened.  Raclette is this type of cheese thing thats from Switzerland that we ate that night.  You melt these little slabs of cheese on metal slabs and then the cheese just slides off of the metal thing you melt it on, onto some potatoes.  You also have a plate of some meats like procuitto(prochutto? Prochuito? whatever..) and thin sliced salami-ish things that you eat with all of that.  It is definitely not slimming but good.  oh so good.  It was a wonderful roommate bonding thing.

So, the second week of classes is going well.  The other two teachers, who didnt show up for class last time, showed up this week, and the classes themselves are good.  I am going to LOVE this feminism class.  She teaches it in English but goes of on tangents in french and the french students in the class speak french when they argue with each other.  The great thing is, I can understand everything! I feel like my French is getting to a different level.  Less of a "book learned" level and more "real life" level if that makes sense. I could really tell the difference today in Feminism. OH!  I have a weird coincidence thing!

The first time I did laundry here I went to this place by our apartment.  I think I wrote something about the silly man that works there and then this random half spanish half french guy who I talked to whilst doing my laundry.  WELL...that SAME GUY is in my Feminism class!  No, not the old man who works there, the random dude I talked to. I walked up to him and said, "HEY!  I met you when I was doing my laundry!!" and he said, "Yeah I remember you!" and then proceeded to ask me to sign this Greenpeace thing about saving whales.  Voila.

Well, hes funny and he actually knew my friend Morgan as well so we all sat together and its was super. EW.  I just typed super and I have no idea why.  gross.  Disregarding the super, the class is really interesting and I can honestly say that I am going to LOVE this semester SO MUCH MORE.  I like every single one of my classes and they are all mentally engaging....VERY UNLIKE MY CLASSES LAST TERM.  I am happy with them.

Tomorrow is Valentines day or something?  Meg is going to be my date to this showing of The Big Lebowski at the Lumiere Institute.  The Lumiere Institute is the actual place where the Lumiere brothers made the first films.  There is a museum, which we visited when we first got here, and a movie theater.  The tickets are two for one for Valentines day and...its the Big Lebowski!  So the plan is to make White Russians and go to the movies (They drink a lot of white russians in The Big Lebowski, if you didn't know).  They also wear robes but... we'll probably skip the robe wearing thing as we already get stared at enough being Americans.  Costumes would be absolutely too much for the French to handle.

P.S. Oh and as for the French girl whose notes I asked for...never got anything.  I made eye contact with her today and she looked right through me.  Out of all of the people in that class, I think I asked THE most stuck up one.  The thing I dont understand is WHY she said YES...and then just didnt do a damn thing?!  Thats sooo Mean Girls.....eugh. Grow up.
