I know I already posted today but I wrote this in the Milan Airport and If I don't post it now, its never going to get up. Donc, Voila:
You know all those weird clothes you see on the runways of the latest fashions shows? The same clothes that get plastered all over magazine covers like Vogue and InStyle and Elle? I used to watch those fashion shows when I was younger and wonder, “who in their right mind actually wears that stuff? Like, when would a normal person actually have an occasion to wear that dress, coat, hat, etc.?” Well, 5 hours passed in the Milan Airport has stirred up an answer to those questions left unanswered in the settled sediment of my thoughts and the answer is, Italians.
If you ask someone where the fashion capital of the world is, most everyone responds with, “Paris!” and although that may be true, that the snobbiest of fashion snobs live/work/have apartments they pay to have cleaned but only live in during visit during fashion week, it’s the Italians who are the fashion fanatics. And I’m not just talking the rich here. Everyone, no matter what the caste, saves up their money to buy designer clothes. They might live in the most rundown crackhouse this side of the Ural Mountains, but they’ve got that black Dolce & Gabanna belt it took them a month’s salary to pay for. Maybe that’s why most Europeans aren’t fat. They choose fashion over food thus enabling them to not only purchase that overpriced Versace leather ensemble, they are skinny enough to look decent in it as well. They wear their beef, not eat it. (However some people choose to wear their animal and eat it too and believe me, it’s not pretty. But the point is to have the clothes because apparently, it’s the clothes that make you look good.) Personally, I like food too much to only wear it so I think I’ll stick to my thrift store fashions for now. All that stuff comes back into fashion anyway.
